France's AI Strategy

In line with the French government’s strategy for artificial intelligence: Biotech Dental Group launches IAI by BD (the Institute for Artificial Intelligence by Biotech Dental), the only AI institute dedicated to dental care. 

IAI by BD is the result of 10 years of  R&D investment and recruitment of talent in the field of dental artificial intelligence by Philippe Veran, founder and CEO of the Biotech Dental Group. Our international institute is therefore a key player in the national strategy for AI, the only one dedicated to dentistry so far.
AI is a priority for France in terms of research, economy, modernisation of public action, regulation and ethics. Since 2017, the French Government, led by the President of the Republic, has initiated the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence (Stratégie Nationale pour l’Intelligence Artificielle-SNIA): investments and measures around research, development and industrial applications of artificial intelligence (AI).
Artificial intelligence is providing substantial gains in competitiveness or productivity in all sectors of the economy and in public services. Data science, machine learning and robotics together represent the 4th industrial revolution.

  • The national AI strategy is divided into two stages:
– Building research capacity (2018-2022)
– Train and attract the best AI talents (2021-2025)
Since January 2023, our country has had a National Coordinator for Artificial Intelligence (Coordinateur National pour l’Intelligence Artificielle-COSNIA): Guillaume Avrin. His mission is to articulate and lead the national strategy for artificial intelligence at an interministerial level. He reports directly to the General Manager for Business at the Ministry of the Economy, Finance, Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, working with the General Secretariat for Investment. He relies on all the government departments concerned, as well as on the research centres and laboratories dedicated to artificial intelligence.
